Steve Revland Biography

Steve Revland was born in Fargo, North Dakota, in 1953. When he was twelve years old, his parents unwittingly allowed him to build a wood lathe in the basement of their home. After attaching a customized pulley to a salvaged washing machine motor, he fashioned a tail stock from a block of kiln-dried Douglas Fir. Using a hand grinder, he forged his skews from cast iron, and acquired a prized "chunk' of Minnesota Red Oak from Grandpa Revland. He soon twirled his inaugural spindle, experiencing the taste and smell of raw hardwood for the first time. Through his teens, he never forgot the aroma that permeated the air around him.

So, at the age of twenty-three, he purchased his first set of power tools, acquired books of knowledge, and began his journey. To this day, he continues to design and hand craft fine pieces of furniture, with confidence and perseverance. He is proud of his Scandinavian heritage, and looks to the future, continually adding new works to his collection. His Scandinavian-contemporary design continues to evolve, creating one of a kind pieces, fresh for the world to see.
